Bleach 543 Summary:

At the Vandenreich fortress, Bach announces that Uryu Ishida will be his successor much to the surprise of the Sternritters. After the meeting, the Sternritters voice their displeasure since most of them support Bach's current right hand man Jugram Haschwalth. A particularly hotheaded Sternritter Bazz-B look to cause trouble and even confronts Jugram, but they stop short of actually fighting. Inside the throne room, Bach gives Uryu an object and states that Uryu's powers will awaken soon and he will become the 'A' Sternritter just like Bach himself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Uryu is named as the successor to Bach, but I don't see Bach giving up his position as the ultimate Quincy before Ichigo beats him. Of course, Bleach is unpredictable so Bach might suddenly just decide to go away lol. Is Uryu sneaking in undercover to help Ichigo or will he become an enemy and fight Ichigo? Anyways, the announcement is causing some dissent among the Sternritters, so there could be a power struggle among the Quincies, and that's not going to help their effort in destroying Soul Society.
Bleach 544 Spoiler Trivia: Though now known by this name, Retsu, which means “violent” or “fierce”, Unohana used to be called Yachiru, during the time she was the First Kenpachi. Yachiru means “Eight thousand/many flows” or “Eight thousand/many exiles.
